GCM Bumpsteer Kit Instructions
This little part was designed to introduce some minor bump steer into the rear suspension of the E-Savage Truck.
So why would you need this little bracket? Due to the great variation of suspension angles during off-road driving, and the need to get air time from larger jumps, it is necessary to have the most stability during rough road driving and when landing jumps.
The way the stock E-savage suspension was designed, there is little measureable bumpsteer with the suspension. A good thing for straight line driving, and varying the ride height of the truck. But what about continuous off-road? It is clear that if a vehicle has minor toe in on the rear, there is a great deal of stability noticed at speed. This same geometry is no good for landing jumps, because when landing on less than 4 wheels (which is most of the time) the rear wheels will tend to drive UNDER the chassis when getting grip on landing. This is where the bumpsteer bracket comes in.
The Bumpsteer Kit was engineered to allow the use of slightly shorter tierods and provide incredible support to the rear diff case at the mounting point. By moving the pivot point for the rear tierods AWAY from center, the rear knuckles actually steer while the suspension is being compressed. This means you can set your favourite toe setting at your regular ride height (under power), and achieve slight toe OUT when the suspension is compressed. Have you ever wondered why all those high powered racing buggies have numerous mounting positions for the rear arms and anti-squat blocks? This is why. We have come up with a geometry that helps the high speed off-road driver achieve stability and not sacrifice durability. Nothing can be worse than a DNF.
So you are ripping down the straightaway under full power, having the rear suspension half compressed, and hit the first of the double jumps. Your truck leaves the ground, but not with any grace, and is just slightly sideways when you land, but that's fine now, because as your wheels hit the ground and get traction, your rear shocks compress all the way, and the rear wheel knuckle toes out, steering each wheel AWAY from the chassis to stabilize the landing, and your off and ready for the next jump. Now to negotiate the 180 degree hairpin. You've landed the second jump fine, and still have huge speed, so you hit the brakes hard. The rear end lifts high, unloading the suspension in back, and as it does your rear knuckes toe IN and give you the high speed stability.
The great part about this little addition is you can get preferred setups from it just by flipping it upside down. Because it's reversible and can mount holes up, or holes down, you can set your tierods for your 0 toe setting at normal ride height and as you change lower shock hole mounts, spring preload, or chassis weight, you can just flip the bracket to compensate without changing the lengths of your pre-set tierods.

The second function of this part is to brace up the tierod mounts on the rear diff case. This is a traditionally weak point for the E-savage. Not any more. The Bumpsteer bracket is designed to fit around and over 4 parts on the diff case, and attaches with the supplied flathead screws to strengthen the whole area, and make a rock solid spot to mount the rear tierods. ( We recommend you adjust your tierods to be flat with the rod ends when driving under power.
